A finish that lasts, the first time.
MMA supplies body shops, restorers and individuals across Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean with complete paint systems, from primer to clear. Together we choose the products and process that fit your booth, your jobs and the way you work.
A complete system, coat by coat
Products designed to work together, in a premium or mid-range line: fewer compatibility risks, predictable results.
Waterborne basecoat
Solid, metallic and pearl colours in one mixing system. Good hiding: fewer coats, less product, less solvent in the booth.
Solvent-borne basecoat
For shops not set up for waterborne: fast drying, little affected by humidity.
2K clearcoats
Standard and fast clears and, depending on the line, clears designed for a shorter or lower-temperature cure. A smooth gloss and a booth that frees up sooner.
Primer surfacers
They fill sanding scratches and small imperfections, sand easily and give the colour an even base.
Wet-on-wet primer sealers
On new parts, colour goes on after a short flash, with no sanding. Tinted versions improve basecoat hiding.
Epoxy and etch primers
Adhesion and corrosion protection on bare metal, galvanized steel and aluminum.
Plastics
Adhesion promoter and flex additive for bumpers and thermoplastic parts: no peeling, no cracking.
Fillers and repair
Universal, finishing, fibreglass, aluminum and flexible fillers: easy sanding, no shrinkage under the paint.
Colour tools
Formulas and factory variants, colour chips, spray-out cards and colour-match lamps to compare before painting.
Abrasives, masking, cleaners
The consumables that make the difference between a clean finish and a redo: dedicated degreasers, abrasives, tapes, paper and polishing products.
Spray guns and protection
High transfer efficiency spray guns, cups and gun cleaning, and supplied-air respiratory protection for 2K products.
The problems we help you solve
The colour does not match
One paint code often has several factory variants, and original paint changes over time. We work with the variants, colour chips and the right blending method on adjacent panels.
The booth is the bottleneck
Fast or single-coat clears, wet-on-wet primers, lower-temperature cure: fewer steps, more vehicles per day.
Too much product for the result
Good hiding, tinted undercoats and high transfer efficiency guns. A conventional gun often puts only 20 to 40% of the product on the part.
Orange peel, runs, craters
Viscosity, reduction, film build, temperature, surface cleanliness: we find the cause with you and adjust the process.
Peeling on plastic or aluminum
The right cleaner, adhesion promoter or primer, in the right order.
Regulations
Products within Canadian VOC limits, up-to-date safety data sheets and protection advice for isocyanate products.
VOC limits to know
In Canada, the Volatile Organic Compound Concentration Limits for Automotive Refinishing Products Regulations (SOR/2009-197) set a maximum per category, measured on the ready-to-spray product, mix included. They also apply to those who sell these products.
| Category | Limit (g/L) |
|---|---|
| Colour coating (basecoat) | 420 |
| Single-stage coating | 420 |
| Clear coating | 250 |
| Primer surfacer | 250 |
| Primer sealer | 340 |
| Pretreatment wash primer | 660 |
| Adhesion promoter | 840 |
| Surface cleaner | 50 |

How we work with a shop
- We look at your production Types of repairs, volume, booth, mixing equipment, what keeps coming back.
- We propose a system The products, process and quantities that fit, with the technical data sheets.
- We follow up Availability confirmed, support when a defect shows up, updates when your needs change.
Frequently asked questions
Can you reproduce my vehicle’s exact colour from the paint code?
The code is a starting point. One code often has several factory variants, and original paint changes with time and sun. For a reliable result we compare with colour chips and, when needed, a spectrophotometer reading, then the painter blends into the adjacent panels.
Waterborne or solvent basecoat: what is the difference for my shop?
Waterborne basecoat mostly uses water as the reducer: it meets the 420 g/L limit more easily and cuts solvent in the booth, but it needs good air movement to dry. Solvent basecoat depends less on humidity and must meet the same limits. The clear on top is usually a 2K clear.
What is a wet-on-wet primer?
A primer sealer you can apply basecoat over after a short flash, without sanding. It is mostly used on new factory-primed parts. You save a sanding step and booth time.
How do I avoid peeling on a plastic bumper or on aluminum?
On plastic: a dedicated cleaner, then an adhesion promoter or a primer with plastic additive. On aluminum and bare metal: an etch or epoxy primer, for adhesion and against corrosion.
What respiratory protection do I need to spray a 2K clear or primer?
2K hardeners contain isocyanates, which can cause occupational asthma. For spraying, Quebec’s CNESST says only supplied-air respirators are suitable: no cartridge is approved for isocyanates. Work in a ventilated booth and keep exposure as low as possible.
Do touch-up aerosols have the same VOC limits?
No. Non-refillable aerosols are exempt from the federal regulations, as are very small touch-up containers.
How can I cut booth time and energy use?
Three levers: fewer steps (wet-on-wet primers, fast or single-coat clears), a shorter or lower-temperature cure with clears designed for it, and the right colour the first time to avoid redos.
Do you sell to individuals?
Yes. Tell us what you want to repair, the vehicle’s colour code or VIN and your equipment: we will point you to products you can apply properly and safely.
